New members are always welcome at Freestate Aeromodelers. The easiest way to meet people is to attend a club meeting (see the FSA Calendar) or to stop by the field on a nice day. To join Freestate Aeromodelers you must also become a member of the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA). The AMA provides our club members the insurance needed to fly at our field. Membership applications can be found at many local local hobby stores or on the AMA web site. The FSA 2011 Membership Form is available in both MS Word and PDF formats. All new members must be soloed by a flight training instructor before they may fly on their own at Freestate Aeromodelers. Free flight training is offered to FSA club members. Several FSA members participate in the AMA's Intro Pilot program, which allows a curious person who does not have an AMA license to try flying an RC model airplane with an experienced pilot's assistance. Please contact the club for more information. Experienced R/C pilots joining FSA may arrange to meet with a Senior Flight Instructor at the field to demonstrate their ability to fly safely and be soloed at that time, without going through the flight training program. |
