New members are always welcome at Freestate Aeromodelers. The easiest way to meet people is to attend a club meeting (see the calendar) or to stop by the field on a nice day. To join the Freestate Aeromodelers club you must also become a member of the Academy of Model Aeronautics. The Academy of Model Aeronautics provides our club with the insurance needed to fly our aircraft. Membership applications can be found at the local hobby stores or on the AMA web site. FSA membership forms may be down loaded in our downloads section, or picked up at the club meetings. Some club officers carry forms with them at the field. All new members must be "solo'd" by a flight training instructor before they may fly on their own at Freestate Aeromodelers. Free flight training is offered to club members. Several FSA members participate in the AMA's Intro Pilot program, which allows a curious person to try flying an RC model airplane with an experienced pilot's assistance. Please contact the club for more information. Experienced R/C pilots joining FSA may arrange to meet with a Senior Flight Instructor at the field to demonstrate their ability to fly safely and be "solo'd" at that time, without going through the flight training program. |
